Tim Patrick quickly finds new NFL home after being cut by Broncos

After being released by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick has quickly found a new home in the NFL.

Patrick is expected to sign with the Detroit Lions’ practice squad, according to Cecil Lammey of 104.3 The Fan. Patrick will join Detroit’s practice squad “with the idea that he will work his way on to the active roster,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.

Patrick, 30, will learn the Lions’ offense and later “become activated” to the active roster, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Detroit has just four receivers on its initial 53-man roster: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond and Isaiah Williams.

Patrick hauled in 143 receptions for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns with the Broncos from 2018-2021 before missing the last two seasons with injuries. He now gets a fresh start with the Lions while the Broncos move forward with Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin.
