Red, white, and gold: a trio of colors instantly associable with the holidays – and all for a good reason. This combination is versatile enough to radiate warmth and traditionalism in homes of every style, including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Tennessee abode.
Country singers Tim and Faith are no strangers to sharing their Christmas tree with the world, and 2023 exception. This year, the couple opted for the most timeless palette of all, comprising the color trio that, designers say, embodies the 'essential elements of the holiday spirit' beautifully. They crowned the tree with a white angel that, Tim adds, is a 'metaphor for life.'
'[I] hope everyone is finding some peace at this time of year… I know the angel is leaning; it's kind of a metaphor for life, I guess. But we all have hope for and faith in a better world tomorrow… Love one another; after all, that's the real message,' he says.
While some color trends evolve, interior designers say that red, white, and gold Christmas decor will impress every year.
'As an interior designer, I can confidently say that traditional color schemes, like the classic combination of red, gold, and dark green, will never go out of style during the festive season,' comments Vera Lopez, a professional interior designer at Povison. 'These colors evoke a sense of warmth, tradition, and nostalgia, which are essential elements of the holiday spirit.'
First, Vera addresses red – the hue arguably the most associable with holidays – that Faith and Tim incorporate with a red ribbon that wraps around the tree.
'Its bold and vibrant nature creates an instant visual impact, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere in any space. When paired with luxurious gold accents, it adds a touch of glamour and luxury, elevating the overall aesthetic of the room,' Vera says.
Similarly, Vera explains how white gold represents wealth, prosperity, and good fortune – often used to bring simultaneous hints of glamour and sophistication to our homes over the holidays.
As mentioned, this color combination works in country homes similar to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's but also in more contemporary environments (and smaller urban homes looking for a festive flair). 'They can be easily incorporated into any design scheme without overwhelming the space,' Vers says.
'They bring a sense of joy, warmth, and familiarity that truly captures the spirit of the season, making your home a festive haven' sure to delight for many Christmases ahead.
It may be edging closer to the big day, but we can pick up some Tim and Faith-inspired decor for the remainder of the holiday (and next year since its style is so unlikely to waver). Here are some of our favorites.
