Tilda Swinton announced as special guest at Bluedot as she's set to join Glastonbury star on stage

Fresh from a spellbinding appearance at Glastonbury, Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton will take to the stage at this year's Bluedot festival.

The actress, who has appeared in films such as Doctor Strange, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Wes Anderson's latest Asteroid City, will take part in a special performance at Jodrell Bank on Thursday, July 20.

She will join prodigious composer and producer Max Richter during his performance of VOICES beneath the Lovell Telescope to mark the official opening of the Cheshire festival.

Tilda will read from The Declaration of Human Rights, which will mark her first ever performance of this work. The pair previously collaborated on the composer’s second album The Blue Notebooks 20 years ago.

Dressed in a sky-blue trouser suit and sunglasses, the actress also took to the stage during Max’s performance at this year’s Glastonbury. The duo performed a number of readings on the Park Stage, including works by Czeslaw Milosz.

Bluedot first took place in 2016 and fuses music, science and cosmic culture together in a unique setting. Performers at this year’s Cheshire festival will include Grace Jones, Róisín Murphy, Leftfield, Django Django and Annie Mac.

Festival director Ben Robinson said: “As we announce the line-up for the 6th edition of bluedot it’s with great pride in the team behind the show. From day one the festival has been ambitious in its programming and mission.

"Looking at the scale of iconic talent, breadth of genres and one off moments it really has matured into a very special event. Thanks to everyone who’s continued to support the idea of bluedot, we look forward to gathering together again beneath the telescope with you all.”

Bluedot takes place from July 20-23.
