Tiger that killed at least nine people — known as 'Man-eater of Champaran' — shot dead in India

A tiger that became known as the "Man-eater of Champaran" after killing at least nine residents of an Indian village this year has been shot dead in a police operation involving more than 200 people.

It happened on Saturday, just a day after the National Tiger Conservation Authority granted police permission to take lethal action following an increase in fatal attacks last week.
