Man rushed to hospital after disturbance in Glasgow's east end as cops swarm scene
A man has been rushed to hospital after a disturbance in the east end of Glasgow.
Officers including CID were called to Eversley Street in Tollcross just after midday on Thursday.
The Record understands two men were involved in the incident, with a police cordon set up near family homes and a garage on the street.
Scots murderer who killed wife takes his own life after charity shop suspension
A murderer who killed his wife after she had an affair took his own life after being suspended from working in a charity shop.
Richard Farquhar, 61, was jailed after slaying Anne, 45, in 2008 on the A90 between Aberdeen and Stonehaven.
Farquhar was held in HMP Greenock and was nearing the end of the punishment part of his sentence, and moving to less restrictive procedures.
Scots mum rushed to hospital at Celtic convention in Las Vegas and diagnosed with cancer
A Scots mum who fell ill at the Celtic Convention in Las Vegas was diagnosed with cancer after being rushed to hospital.
Ellen Cassidy, 54, had travelled from Springburn near Glasgow for a 10-day holiday with pals to attend the Hoops event.
Six days into her trip, the Celtic super-fan began suffering from pain near her kidneys and extreme fatigue.
She was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Centre in Southern Nevada last Thursday.
A scan found cancer in Ellen’s gallbladder and she was taken away for emergency surgery to remove the organ.
Covid cases spike in Scotland as highly infectious New York variant spreads
Covid cases in Scotland have spiked by almost a third in the past week with the highly infectious New York variant on the rise.
Public health expert Professor Linda Bauld has called for an extension of the vaccination programme to all over-50s.
In the past week, there were 15,541 confirmed cases in Scotland – about 2200 cases per day – up 30.5 per cent on the previous week.
The most recent Office for National Statistics figures showed about one in 30 Scots with the virus – more than 182,000.
There have also been rises in the numbers of people in hospital and in intensive care.
Naked 25-stone drug dealer caught trying to hide phone between thighs in Scots jail
A naked 25-stone drug dealer was caught trying to hide a mobile phone between his thighs when prison officers raided his jail cell.
Callum Menzies had another three mobile phones stashed within his cell at Perth Prison and today he was jailed for a year.
Menzies, 39, was serving nearly five years behind bars after he was caught with £500,000 worth of cocaine in his Perth flat.
Fiscal depute Alistair McDermid said prison officers were carrying out a routine inspection of the heavyweight drug dealer's cell on 29 October 2020.
