A thug faces jail after he kicked out three of his ex-girlfriend's teeth during a row.
Leighton Hodson, who has a history of domestic violence, slapped on-off girlfriend Carly Smith in his flat and when she fled he chased her down and 'booted' her in the face, a court heard.
The attack happened while Ms Smith was with her sister Courtney at Hodson's flat on the night of September 3 of this year. Hodson, who had been in an 'on-off' relationship with Carly for three years, became drunk and began calling her names.
Courtney then intervened, telling 28-year-old Hodson 'don't call my sister that', to which he responded by slapping her in the face. Both women then ran from the property with Hodson running after them.
In her desperate attempt to flee, Carly fell to the floor with Hodson hot on her heels. He ran towards her and 'booted her' in the face causing three of her teeth to fall out during the attack at in Merchants Landing in Blackburn, a court heard.
At Blackburn Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (November 9) Hodson appeared in the dock from custody. Several members of his family were in court as prosecutor Scott Parker described the incident.
"Carly was at her ex-partner's flat and they had been drinking," Mr Parker said. "He started calling her names and her sister intervened and said 'don't call my sister that'. The defendant then slapped Courtney in the face using one of his hands. Both sisters then left the address and went outside to avoid any further confrontation.
"He followed them outside running after them. Carly says she ended up on the floor of a neighbour's property, on the grass, and he came towards her. He started walking back but then turned around, ran towards her and booted her in the face causing three of her teeth to come out."
The court heard that police took Carly to the Royal Blackburn Hospital amid fears she had sustained a serious jaw injury. She suffered severe bruising to her cheek and chin as a result of the attack.
Hodson, who has several previous convictions for domestic violence-related offences, pleaded guilty to wounding and common assault as well as breaching a restraining order preventing him from contacting Carly.
Defence solicitor Gareth Price said Hodson 'fully accepts' that he would be sent to prison for the offences. "He recognises that the combination of his actions and his previous convictions mean that an immediate period of custody will be imposed," he added.
Hodson will appear at Preston Crown Court on December 21 for sentencing. He was remanded in custody until that date.
