Authorities in a northwest Illinois community have confirmed that three Ogle County Sheriff's deputies were injured in a shooting incident that took place in Dixon. The incident unfolded when the Ogle County Sheriff's Department responded to a home in the Lost Lake gated community following reports of a shooting.
According to officials, the situation escalated when an individual inside the residence threatened suicide and homicide, prompting the activation of an emergency response team. Despite attempts to establish communication through 50 phone calls, there was no response from the individual.
Due to the lack of contact with the person inside, law enforcement made the decision to enter the home. Tragically, upon entering the residence, the deputies came under fire from the individual.
All three deputies who were shot during the incident were promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, authorities have reported that the injured deputies are all in good condition and are receiving the necessary care.
Additionally, the suspect involved in the shooting was also wounded and is currently in good condition, as confirmed by the police.
