Three Minor Sisters Die in Ghaziabad After Allegedly Jumping, Online Gaming Obsession Cited

According to officials, the girls were reportedly “addicted” to an online task-based game and influenced by Korean culture. The obsession, authorities said, began after the COVID-19 pandemic and had significantly affected their daily lives.

Assistant Police Commissioner Atul Kumar Singh said the eldest sister, 16, who was still in class 4, lived with her father, a forex trader, and their respective mothers. The 16-year-old was born to the trader’s first wife, while the two younger sisters were children of his second wife.

“The three girls were highly obsessed with the game and even perceived themselves as Korean, portraying themselves as Korean princesses under the game’s influence,” Singh said. “Their family was aware of their addiction and often confiscated their phones, but the girls would manage to retrieve them.”

The minors reportedly shared a close bond, following a synchronized daily routine and even going to the bathroom together. Authorities found multiple notes in a diary left behind by the girls, containing apologies and emotional sketches, reflecting their mental state.

The tragic incident occurred around midnight. Singh explained, “The girls went inside the puja room and locked it from the inside. Using a chair, they accessed a window and jumped one by one from the ninth floor.”

Eyewitness Arun Kumar described the scene as “sudden” and “abnormal.” He told ANI, “It seemed like one of them planned to jump, and the other two fell trying to save her.”

Local guards and family members on the same floor were alerted by the noise. Police were informed immediately, and the bodies were sent for autopsy.

The police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the girls’ deaths, including the influence of online gaming and social media on minors.
