Three injured after Ukraine-bound tanker struck near Romanian coast

  • A Liberian-flagged vessel, the LPG Gas Lisbon, was struck off Romania 's coast, an incident Romanian president Nicusor Dan attributed to Russia 's war on Ukraine .
  • The attack occurred approximately 20 nautical miles outside Romanian territorial waters, resulting in three injured crew members who were subsequently evacuated by Romanian rescuers.
  • A tugboat was dispatched to secure the vessel and prevent it from drifting, with Romanian authorities investigating the "serious incident" as likely part of Russia's aggression.
  • The incident follows repeated breaches of Romanian airspace and territorial waters by Russian and Ukrainian drones throughout the current year.
  • Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Russia would continue striking vessels supplying Ukraine's military, following a previous attack on the Golden Leo ship leaving Odesa which caused Indian casualties.
