Community members and police officers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, are facing threats following the capture of Luigi Mangione, as reported by Altoona Deputy Chief of Police Derek Swope on Tuesday.
Swope informed the press that there have been threats made against officers within their building and citizens in the community. He emphasized that all threats are being taken seriously and investigations have been initiated.
Describing Mangione's case as 'polarizing,' Swope highlighted the complexity and sensitivity surrounding the situation.
Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York, was apprehended on Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, located approximately 100 miles east of Pittsburgh.
