Thousands of tickets for £2.2m Bishop Auckland mansion 'Tindale Towers' sold as owner raffles it off for just £25

A man who is raffling off a stunning four-storey mansion in County Durham has already sold thousands of tickets as he urges people to get involved.

Mike Keen, who owns Tindale Towers in Bishop Auckland, is raffling off the property, which recently hit the market for £2.24 million, for just £25 a ticket.

And now at the halfway through point, Mike has sold almost 2,000 tickets but is hoping to continue the momentum before the end of the competition.

Described as "an iconic and award-winning home", Tindale Towers has five en-suite bedrooms and a cinema room as well as its own pool and sports court.

The Art-Deco home even featured on Channel 4's 'I Own Britain’s Best Home' where it showcased its amazing features including a jacuzzi, a sauna, and a fully-functioning bar.

It also has a bespoke kitchen, an office/study, and a dance floor with a lift to all floors, along with a stunning spiral staircase.

Outside there is a large garden to the front, three double garages, a remote-operated electric gate, three electric door double garages, and a large enclosed garden with a tennis/badminton court.

Complete with its own wind turbine, the house has won awards for its sustainability, and also has self-cleaning glass along with Jerusalem stone with underfloor heating throughout.

There is also CCTV throughout and an alarm system with flat-screen panel TVs, projector screens, and ceiling surround sound speakers.

Mike, who also built the property, said: "It's slowed down a little bit I think due to Christmas and the fact everybody waits until the last minute.

"I was speaking to someone who said: 'I want to buy a ticket but I'm going to wait until the very last minute'.

"Everybody has an opinion but people have generally been quite positive.

"Some people have been saying they couldn't afford to live there but the council tax on these houses isn't massive.

"It's a well-insulated house so it doesn't take a lot of energy to heat, all the floors are solid stone and there's self-cleaning glass so it looks after itself.

"It really is life-changing for someone. It would be good to see a family in there. We built it and designed it when we had quite young children so it's ideal.

"There's a big space for them to run around in and an electric gate for security."

It's been described as an "incredible opportunity" on the listing on the Raffall website with tickets being sold at just £25 each.

The competition will last until April 20, 2022, or until all 100,000 tickets are sold.
