Thor: Love and Thunder was released on July 6 and was, predictably, a massive hit. The film made $730 million worldwide, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of the year so far.
Now, Marvel has shared some exciting news: the blockbuster is going to be released on Disney+ on September 8, so subscribers will be able to watch Thor, Gorr the God Butcher, Valkyrie and Sif in action on demand.
“Only 16 days, 18 hours, and 59 minutes until September 8, but who’s counting?” tweeted Disney+.

But the good news doesn’t stop there. September 8 is Disney+ Day, so Thor comes among a larger number of Disney+ releases.
Disney’s live-action reimagining of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto will also be released on the 8th, as will a new episode of She-Hulk.
Audiences can also look forward to Cars on the Road, a new spin-off series from the Cars franchise, as well as two Frozen sing-along shows, an Obi-Wan Kenobi special, where audiences are given a behind-the-scenes look at the new Star Wars series, plus there’s a behind-the-scenes look at Thor: Love and Thunder, too.
The so-called Disney+ Day will also see the release of a new short from The Simpsons. Yes, it’s a lot to take in.
The content will all premiere globally, and, according to Marvel, there will be celebrations taking place across Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products around the world too.
Then, just one day later D23 Expo begins: a major three-day Disney event taking place in California.
Self-described as “the largest Disney fan event in the world”, fans buy tickets to witness sneak peeks, announcements and trailers, and take part in a games showcase, a Disney costume contest, presentations, signings, panels and more.
There will be a special Marvel Studios Pavilion and filmmakers, some celebrities and Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and Executive Editor Nick Lowe are set to attend.
All in all, for Disney fans, or fans of Disney’s associated companies Lucasfilm, Pixar, Marvel, National Geographic, it’s going to be a huge weekend, and reports of the happenings and announcements are likely to make waves online for the weeks following.
Speaking about the fanbase to Complex, Chris Hemsworth said: “I have to pinch myself every time I go to a fan event or every time there’s a premiere or something where I interact with, en masse, that many people. There’s such a love and enthusiasm and support for the Marvel Universe across the board. And so to be a part of it, I feel very thankful for it.”
