This week’s good news: From the Superloop to a café to embrace your inner-cat

It’s time for another round up of good news. This week, we have tiny birds, a girl group reunion, and a reality TV star getting in touch with their inner cat. What more could you want? Maybe, the return of the bus!

Collins’s cat café

I think it was Plato that once said, “I’m here for cattitude and think that, if people tried being more like a cat, they’d be a lot more chilled out and relaxed.”

Okay, not really. It was actually Gemma Collins, who has helped to launch a new London café, designed to encourage people to be more “cat-like”.

The Be A Cat Cafe will offer a wool-pit, a relaxing cat-nap area, and a life-sized cat climbing frame to give members of the public a chance to get in touch with their feline side.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Superloop!

It’s been a huge week for the bus fans of London, of which I’m sure there are many.

Sadiq Khan has announced that the Superloop network of express buses linking the London suburbs will be 40 per cent complete by this summer, with some of the services coming in time for the expansion of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ).

Mr Khan said: “When I made the tough decision to expand the Ulez London-wide, one of my key commitments to Londoners was to improve transport links in outer London.

“Today, I am delivering on that commitment as we announce the Superloop, the game-changing new network of express buses that will add over four million additional kilometres to our bus network in outer London, linking stations, town centres, hospitals, and transport hubs.”

Has the Superloop made buses fashionable again?

This time, it is a bird

If you’re a fan of tiny animals, you’re in for a real treat here. This is Egbert, the tiniest animal you’ll see this week. He’s so small that he weighs the same as a bar of soap.

Egbert is the first baby vulture to be safely hatched at London Zoo in 40 years, after having been born in a specialised vulture incubator.

He will remain in the incubator cuddling up to a dummy owl (I’m not crying, you are) before he is returned to his parents, Philomena and Cuthbert, at three months old.

Girls Aloud are back

Are you looking for something kind of ‘ooh’? Then you’re in luck, because Girls Aloud have got you covered.

Kimberley Walsh has confirmed Girls Aloud will release music in a matter of weeks, saying the release will be “fun alternative versions of songs lying around and little re-releases” instead of totally new tracks.

The profits from the release will be given to The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal in memory of Harding, who passed away from breast cancer in September 2021, and comes as the band’s first album, Sound Of The Underground, turns 20.
