Cats have been part of the history of art for centuries. Long before they became internet celebrities, they were already appearing in paintings, illustrations, prints, and posters created by artists from around the world. They were portrayed as beloved companions, playful troublemakers, mysterious creatures, or even humorous caricatures. Despite the passing of time, these artworks remain a real treat for those who discover them today.
The Facebook page 'Cats In Art' celebrates this fascinating connection by curating paintings featuring felines from different artistic movements and time periods. Rather than focusing on a single artist or style, the page brings together everything from classical oil paintings to modern illustrations, showing how cats have remained a timeless subject throughout the history of art.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the most charming pieces shared on the page, so without further ado, scroll down and enjoy!
