A new AI-focused engineering role is seeing a sharp rise in demand across Silicon Valley, with companies hiring professionals who can take AI systems from development to actual business use. The role, known as a forward-deployed engineer, recorded more than a 1,000% increase in job postings between January and August 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to Lightcast data cited by Fortune. The median advertised salary for the role has crossed $188,000, or nearly Rs 1.6 crore.
