This Morning viewers slam Weight Watchers cooking segment

This Morning viewers were taken back by a butter-heavy lunch that was sponsored by Weight Watchers.

James Martin was in the kitchen today whipping up several hearty meals, perfect for the holiday season. Among the lineup of dishes were a tartiflette, a cheese fondue, and his very own take on the classic roast potato.

All of the plates looked delicious as they went down a storm with everyone on set but viewers were shocked to hear the segment was sponsored by Weight Watchers.

James said all of his meals were perfect for those using Weight Watchers points to manage their diets but presenters Holly and Phil weren't convinced. On several occasions, the pair were taken aback by the amount of butter used in the already healthy meals as Holly begged James to explain why there was a cube of it placed in front of her.

Later in the kitchen, he requested the pair butter their roast potatoes with a large dollop, similar to how you would butter toast. Viewers weren't convinced the segment was suitable for a Weight Watchers diet as they slammed the calorie-heavy meal.

One viewer said: "As if this is sponsored by weight watchers and he's using all that butter, lardons and wine..." Another added: "Sponsored by Weight Watchers, OK."

A third said: "Hilarious - this cooking segment is sponsored by WeightWatchers. James Martin's tartiflette will be about your recommended calorie intake for about 2.5 days."

A final added: "With that butter he puts in his recipes, it won't be long until James Martin transforms into the Lurpak Man."

Despite the butter-loaded lunch, both Holly and Phil commended James stating the meal was delicious.

ITV have been approached for comment.
