This Morning's Vernon Kay 'rescues' Rochelle Humes during awkward moment

This Morning returned to our screens on Friday, with Rochelle Humes and Vernon Kay back at the helm of the daytime programme.

With regular hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby taking a break for the summer holidays, the show has been fronted by an array of guest hosts in recent weeks. Rochelle and Vernon were back today, talking about the latest news, fashion and more

But Rochelle was left blushing during Friday's instalment of the daytime programme after she "thought she saw something" on the auto-cue.

Co-host Vernon Kay came to her "rescue" as she fluffed her lines as the programme went to an ad break. Rochelle plunged her head into her hands after stopping speaking mid-sentence.

The adverts began after Vernon completed her lines, saying: "...with the rest of all of that after these adverts". Rochelle apologised, while she and guest presenters burst into laughter.

After the show returned, Vernon asked Rochelle what had happened, adding that it was like a "glitch in the matrix". Rochelle said: "I thought it was something else.... that I shouldn't say on the tele, and I thought 'don't say it, your kids are watching'."

Vernon said: "Your brain literally pulled the rip cord. Anyway, you're back now".

Fans at home also noticed her error. Taking to Twitter, Rachel said: "Ohh Rochelle [cry-laughing emoji] Vernon to the rescue". Chris said: "Oops! Happens to the best of us clearly".

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and the ITV Hub
