Viewers were left gutted as credits rolled on Thursday's This Morning when this week's hosts Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay ended their run, just as they were being talked up as 'the future of the show.'
There has been a change of personnel on the ITV daytime show of late, with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby taking their usual break over the school holidays. Prior to the usual presenting duo officially confirming their time off, speculation was already rife amongst fans of the show as to who might replace them.
Producers confirmed that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary would be first to do the honours, with the pair fronting This Morning for the entirety of last week. Josie and Vernon have had loads of praise heaped on them from viewers this week. The former Big Brother winner and I'm A Celebrity finalist have been described as a 'breath of fresh air,' by some fans, with many of them calling on Josie and Vernon to be made full time hosts, or at least being made Phillip and Holly's permanent holiday cover from now on.

So, there was great upset on social media when people watching at home realised that Thursday was Josie and Vernon 's last day hosting together. While they didn't announce that fact on air, with Josie revealing she'd actually be making an appearance on Friday, it will be Alison and Dermot who will host This Morning on Good Friday. They will then return to the studio on Easter Monday, April 18, before Phillip and Holly finally return on Tuesday, April 19.
The second credits rolled on Thursday's This Morning, fans took to Twitter to beg producers to give Josie and Vernon another chance. One tweeted: "This has been the best show in years. You have to keep Josie and. Vernon. They are so much better than Alison and Dermot." In complete agreement, another wrote: "Loving Josie and Vernon on the show this week. Please at least make them the permanent cover for Holly and Phillip. They have made me laugh so much this week."
A third posted: "please can we have Josie and Vernon all the time, they are a breath of fresh air, I've really had enough of Phil and Holly," and making the same plea to This Morning bosses, a fourth wrote: "Vernon and Josie have such good chemistry… the future of @thismorning right there!"
