This Morning's Phillip Schofield issues 2022 verdict after 'queuegate'

Phillip Schofield partied the night away as he wanted to make sure 2022 "buggered off".

The This Morning host left the UK behind and jetted off to Denmark to ring in the New Year. Taking to Instagram, he wore a fancy, golden, masquerade mask as he grinned into the camera.

He was suited and booted in a black jacket with tie to match and a white shirt. The 60-year-old added text to the post, as he said: "Before it all happens..."

Phil added: "Just to say I'm partying, not only to welcome in the new year, but to be absolutely sure 2022 has buggered off!!!" A little while later he shared another post, which was a video of fireworks going off.

The TV personality wrote: "Happy New Year from Copenhagen!! Nothing about this is organised... Just folk letting s*** off in the street!"

Earlier in 2022, following Queen Elizabeth II's death, This Morning was hit with Ofcom complaints after its presenters were accused of 'pushing in' to see Her Majesty lying in state. However ITV bosses defended them as they said they were actually working at the time.

Phil and Holly addressed the concerns themselves on This Morning. In a pre-recorded statement, they said: "Like hundreds of accredited broadcasters and journalists we were given official permission to access the hall. It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who have not been able to visit Westminster in person.

“The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back. In contrast, those paying respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause. None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone’s place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen.

"We of course respected those rules. However, we realise that it may have looked like something else, and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know that we would never jump a queue.”
