Phillip Schofield was left on the verge of tears on-air as he spoke to Dame Kelly Holmes about her coming out as gay.
Double Olympic champion spoke about her sexuality during Pride Month, revealing that she had also made it the subject of a forthcoming BBC documentary Being Me. A clip of the programme then appeared on screen, before the camera cut back to Kelly, who joined Phillip and co-hoist Holly Willoughby.
Becoming increasingly emotional, Kelly told the ITV presenters: "I was at home and on social media and the reaction was amazing but I still felt it wasn't the real world and coming out today and sitting here now, it feels like the real world and it's really hard," she added. "I've been having interviews for years but this is such a huge step for me to be open and honest."

Phillip very publicly came out at the start of 2020 and discussing his own experiences and the reaction he received, he said: "It's not that long ago that I sat over there in exactly that place and one day, we won't have to do these interviews.
"One day it won't matter and one day we will just be able to be you and get on with your life. However, we're not quite there yet," before sharing how one of the reasons for speaking out does help other people."
Kelly, who won double gold in the 800m and 1500m in Athens in 2004, admitted to Phillip and Holly that she'd suffered a 'really bad breakdown' in 2020 and, as she started to cry, explained it was that they made her realise she had to speak her truth.
Moved by what KElly had to say, Phillip struggled to hold it together as he told Kelly "Yesterday, you said on Instagram that you were scared. I think I wrote back 'don't be scared' because it'll be ok..."
Before asking Kelly how she was feeling after the support she'd received online, Phillip became tearful, as Holly reached over a put her hand on his leg to reassure him.
Kelly replied: ""I am relieved to finally do it but it's hard to unravel everything so I know I'll feel the relief gradually and I think the responses have been really helping me, ever if I don't look it."
