Holly Willoughby returned to the This Morning couch on Monday following a two-week break in the aftermath of her former colleague Phillip Schofield's affair with a younger ITV colleague coming to light.
The mum-of-three had taken a break from fronting the popular morning show following the shocking news of Phil's romance, having previously lied to Holly and other colleagues as well as ITV bosses and his friends and family. Afterwards, Holly admitted she had been "hurt" by her pal.
Viewers tuning into the show on Wednesday believe they have found the "perfect fit" for Phil's replacement, as Holly was joined by fellow ITV co-star Craig Doyle, who often presents alongside Josie Gibson.
"ABSOLUTELY should keep Craig on This Morning permanently! He is the perfect fit with Holly! #thismorning #craigdoyle," wrote one viewer as they took to Twitter during Wednesday's show.
Someone else wrote: "If anyone could save TM I think its Craig. Very good presenter and works better with Holly than a female presenter. #thismorning."
"There’s such a warmth and calmness about Craig Doyle, Holly seems more relaxed with him too. Would not complain if he were to be permanent #ThisMorning," added another fan on Twitter.
A fourth quipped: "Craig Doyle’s an absolute joy isn’t he? He’s very natural & clearly gets on well with Holly. Could he be the perfect replacement for you know who? #ThisMorning."
"Can we have Craig Doyle permanently as Phil’s replacement? He and Holly just work so well together #thismorning @thismorning," penned another.
Holly first made her big return to the iconic ITV sofa this week on Monday, as she addressed the news of Phil's affair for the first time on This Morning when she asked viewers if they were ok, before going on to explain her "hurt" at being lied to.
She added: "You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth. Who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process.
"And it’s equally hard to see the toll that it’s taken on their own mental health. I think what unites us all now is a desire to heal for the health and wellbeing of everyone. I hope that as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, we can find strength in each other."
