This Morning fans confused as 'nervous' looking Holly and Phil fail to address off-screen 'feud'

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield left viewers confused on Monday as they failed to address their reported feud on the ITV show.

A huge furore has been surrounding the stars over the past few days amid reports of a falling out between the formerly close friends and co-stars.

Holly was said to be 'blindsided' by Phil's statement which he released on Thursday night in response to the rumours, in which he said things "hadn't been easy" for them despite him insisting she's his "rock".

Producers of This Morning confirmed at the weekend that the hosts would be back as usual today.

Returning to the ITV studios on Monday morning, This Morning fans said they 'weren't convinced' by Holly and Phil's 'smiley front'.

The hashtag #ThisMorning was trending on Twitter as viewers tuned in to see for themselves how the presenters and ITV were handling the ongoing situation.

Many fans said that they could 'feel tension' whilst watching today's instalment of the show. They flocked to social media to talk about it - saying their apparent united front seemed 'fake'.

One said: "Phillip Schofield thinks he can fool us with this fake nice “everything is fine act” when Holly looks visibly uncomfortable being there #ThisMorning."

Some were even more baffled by the fact that there was no mention of the feud, as writes the Mirror.

Fans were baffled and took to social media to share their views, with one writing: "#ThisMorning... there seems to be some headlines you've missed!"

"We're looking at all the headlines' Philip Schofield… not quite ALL the headlines. Holly and Phil looking incredibly self-conscious… #ThisMorning," commented a second.

Before a third typed: "Just switched TV on #ThisMorning surprised to see #PhillipSchofield appearing and chatting away to #HollyWilloughby as if everything is normal so switched off immediately. Won't be watching again until he has gone."

"These 2 can hardly look at eachother #ThisMorning," tweeted another.

While a fifth penned: "Dodging the main paper's headlines of themselves, trying to fool the public into thinking all is fine! Just be honest! This is nauseating #thismorning."

Another added: "How totally uncomfortable does @Schofe look today on @thismorning? I'm cringing watching this… Knowing they want to punch each other straight in the face #thismorning #PhillipSchofield #HollyWilloughby And any reason their news review didn't mention the elephant in the room?!"

Earlier we reported that Phillip is said to be weathering the storm and going ahead with presenting This Morning today despite 'calling in top lawyers' to deal with the 'ongoing feud' between him and his co-host Holly Willoughby.

According to The Daily Mail, Phil has hired Gordon Smart, a Scottish journalist and former Sun showbiz columnist to manage the crisis and ensure favourable press coverage. A source told them it's a sign that he's 'taking this very seriously' and is 'keen to come out of the situation quickly'.
