This Morning fans beg ITV to announce 'perfect' Phillip Schofield replacement

ITV has given a very brief update on Phillip Schofield's permanent This Morning replacement - as fans continue to voice their frustrations online, eager to find out who will be stepping up to the plate. Today marks two weeks since the presenter of 21 years cut ties with ITV altogether, the week prior announcing he had taken a step back from This Morning.

Earlier this week, former co-host and long time friend Holly Willoughby returned to screens across the UK after a half-term holiday, citing how 'shaken, troubled, let down and worried' she was regarding the events building up to Schofield's shock exit. The 42-year old returned to her tenure Monday morning, alongside Josie Gibson from the outset and throughout.

Kicking off the show, Willoughby addressed Schofield's scandalous affair with a younger ITV colleague, before continuing as normal. She also spend the last two days hosting alongside Craig Doyle.

The MEN reports that it's more than fair to say that the Irishman has went down a treat with viewers across the UK too, with fans branding him the ideal replacement for Phil. Taking to Twitter, one said: "This Morning has got to make Craig Doyle the permanent host, he is lovely, great personality and compliments Holly Willoughby on the sofa, fits in with the team like a glove.

"Come on This Morning make it happen."

Another, added: "Craig Doyle is superb on This Morning and if they've any brains he will get the permanent gig with Holly," while a third, begged: "Can we have Craig Doyle permanently as Phil’s replacement? He and Holly just work so well together #thismorning."

A third said: "Holly and Craig are perfect match to continue everyday together. Please don't change them. Use Craig as Phil replacement."

ITV are yet to confirm Phillip's permanent replacement on a Monday through Thursday, however, the broadcaster has confirmed that they are nearing a decision. A spokesperson for ITV in-turn said that further announcements would be made 'in due course'.

"In the meantime, we will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly," they added in a statement to The Journal.
