Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged large-scale irregularities in electoral rolls across several states, claiming that “millions of people” were affected by additions and deletions. In a speech posted on X late Thursday night, Gandhi accused the BJP-led government of undermining India's democratic structure and said the alleged irregularities amounted to “an act of treason”.
Addressing senior leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Gandhi thanked opposition MPs for their protests over the past three to four days and called for continued pressure on the government.
