This bullet train runs under the sea at 320 kmph: How Hayabusa Shinkansen makes it possible

Japan’s bullet trains are known for combining speed with precision, but the Hayabusa Shinkansen offers passengers something extra, a journey through one of the world’s longest undersea railway tunnels. The E5 Series train connects Japan’s main island of Honshu with Hokkaido and can reach speeds of up to 320 kmph. An Indian content creator recently travelled on the train and shared glimpses of the unusual journey.

Hayabusa Shinkansen runs through an undersea tunnel

The Hayabusa service operates between Tokyo and Hokkaido, with the route passing through the Seikan Tunnel. Stretching 53.85 km in total, the tunnel has around 23.3 km running beneath the sea and connects Aomori Prefecture on Honshu with Hokkaido.
