Run, don’t walk to Home Bargains - they’ve got a gorgeous Jo Malone dupe that will save you £90.
I’m not kidding - as I looked across the ‘Elegant’ scent selection, I noticed that I’d heard them somewhere else before.
Of course, it was none other than fragrance mogul Jo Malone where I’d seen similar.
For just £3.99, the store stocked 100ml bottles of Elegant’s Jasmine and Honey, as well as Pomegranate perfumes, which I suspected would be dupes for the Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey, and Pomegranate Noir respectively.
It comes in a simple yet luxe-looking white textured box with silver foil branding and black cursive writing spelling out the fragrance, with a little pomegranate illustration underneath.
For less than a fiver, there’s been a surprising amount of thought put into the packaging.
Inside, the rectangular bottle bears some resemblance to Jo Malone’s popular but pricey products - however, Jo’s versions tend to be taller and slimmer.
The same branding from the box also features on the bottle, and would look sophisticated and expensive sitting on a beauty tray or bedside table.
The silver lit fits snugly onto the spray, which for the price, I thought it would be cheaply made and feel tacky - but that simply wasn’t the case.
Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir comes in at a cool £94, and is described as ‘daring sensuality, encapsulated in scent’.
But the Home Bargains dupe is a snip of the price at only £3.99 for the same sized bottle - cheaper than a Starbucks hot chocolate or a Chicken Big Mac.
As soon as you lift the lid, the fragrance is strong but not overpowering - it commands attention without being in your face.
I’m quite a fan of more ‘masculine’ fragrances - think woody, leathery perfumes like Blacks Club Leather from Shay and Blue, or Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford.
This £3.99 Pomegranate perfume definitely falls into that category for me, as I don’t like anything too sweet or too floral.
The spray covers quite a wide surface area, you only need one spritz per wrist or you’ll be soaked - but it absorbs quickly and leaves a flattering fragrance that lasts for hours.
Home Bargains also sell reed diffusers and candles in Jo Malone dupe scents, including the popular Lime, Basil and Mandarin.
But they’re not the only budget retailer to have sold similar smelling products to the perfume personage.
Aldi previously stocked a £5.99 pomegranate perfume that shoppers claimed to be a Jo Malone dupe.
Their ‘No3’ fragrance range sees reed diffusers, candles and handwashes in the iconic pomegranate scent at a fraction of the price of the luxury alternatives.
