NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT APPREHENDS THIRD SUSPECT IN TIMES SQUARE SHOOTING
In a press conference held by the New York Police Department, officials confirmed the apprehension of a third suspect in connection with the shooting incident that occurred in Times Square last night. This latest development comes as the investigation into the incident continues.
According to the authorities, the shooter is reported to have arrived in the country within the last few months. He is considered armed and dangerous, urging the public to exercise caution and report any information regarding his whereabouts.
Amid concerns about the safety of Times Square, a police spokesperson reassured the public that the area is secure. The spokesperson stated that thousands of people continued to visit and engage in various activities, emphasizing that Times Square remains one of the safest places in the world. The police presence at the scene was also highlighted, emphasizing the department's commitment to preventing and responding to incidents efficiently.
Regarding the involvement of a 15-year-old who was initially taken into custody, it was clarified that he had been released the morning after the incident as he did not have a role in the shooting. He, along with two other minors, is currently considered a person of interest. The identities of the individuals are being withheld as the investigation unfolds. Detectives are actively reviewing video footage to determine their involvement, if any, in the incident.
In a surprising revelation, it was disclosed that the 15-year-old shooter is also a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred on January 27th in the Bronx. Additionally, the same individual is believed to be involved in a shots fired incident in Midtown North, where 45 caliber shell casings were recovered. These casings will be compared to those found at the scene of the Times Square shooting to establish a possible connection.
The police department urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. As the investigation progresses, authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and ensure the safety of the community.
Concerns surrounding the security of Times Square persist, but the New York Police Department's continued presence and efforts to apprehend all suspects provide reassurance. As investigations into the incident and the previous crimes involving the 15-year-old unfold, the city remains steadfast in its commitment to public safety.
