Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has admitted that he did not expect to enjoy a ‘dream’ stay at Stamford Bridge.
Since arriving in west London on a free transfer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian has become a vital player to Thomas Tuchel.
He played a key role as the side lifted just their second Champions League trophy against Manchester City - whilst he was also crucial as the Blues added to that by claiming the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
There was some concern that Chelsea were set to lose Silva’s services this summer, with his previous deal set to expire at the end of the season.
However, the Blues managed to secure his future with a new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday, Silva admitted that he did not expect his stay in west London to be as positive as it has been thus far.
Talking to TNT Sports Brazil, the veteran defender said: “I feel like I'm living a dream here at Chelsea.
“I wasn't expecting something like that. The fans are always singing my name. It's magic, it's a dream.
“I'm really proud to play here for Chelsea and their supporters.”

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020, Silva has gone on to make 64 appearances in all competitions for the club and has scored five goals.
It goes without saying that he will be aiming to add to his impressive trophy haul between now and the end of the campaign, with Chelsea set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, whilst they are also still in the running for the FA Cup and Champions League.
