Thiago Alcantara has withdrawn from Spain's 25-man squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures due to a muscle injury, it has been confirmed.
The Liverpool midfielder was a doubt heading into last Saturday's Champions League final with Real Madrid after going off injured with an Achille issue during the Reds' final Premier League match of the season at home to Wolves. Jurgen Klopp was able to start the Spaniard in the end, despite fears he would miss out in Paris, but has now been dealt a fresh blow.
The Spanish Football Federation confirmed this news in a statement released earlier today, ruling the 31-year-old out of all four of their Nations League games on the horizon. Spain are set to take on Portugal, Czech Republic (twice) and Switzerland as part of their Group A fixtures.

It is claimed Thiago has sustained a 'muscle injury to the back of his right leg' but will remain with the team until after Luis Enrique's side take on Portugal tomorrow evening. Enrique will not call another player up to replace him and will remain with 24 players.
