“They told me, ‘David Gilmour’s not going to like this. You’re going to hear some thunder!’ You think he’s going to be one way and then he goes completely the other. And that’s good”: Pink Floyd’s Indiana Jones adventure with The Endless River

Featuring music recorded by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason during The Division Bell sessions, The Endless River was the most eagerly-awaited prog album of the 21st century. Ahead of its arrival in 2014, Gilmour, Mason and others revealed the story of how – and why – it was created.

“It comes from all sorts of ideas,” explains David Gilmour of Pink Floyd’s new album. “Some of it is improvised, quite a bit of it is just the two of us, Rick [Wright] and me, or the three of us, improvising together. Some of it is half-written ideas that one of us had come up with, rehearsed and considered as a start point for something.”
