34 Award-Winning Photos From The 2026 Minimalist Photography Contest

What happens when a photograph strips away everything unnecessary and leaves only shape, light, space, and a carefully chosen detail? The Minimalist Photography Awards 2026 offer a fascinating answer, bringing together images that find visual impact in subjects that might otherwise go unnoticed. This year’s overall winner was selected from more than 6,200 images submitted by photographers from 66 countries, showing just how many different ways there are to approach minimalist photography.

The eighth edition of the competition featured 12 categories, ranging from Abstract, Aerial Photography, and Architecture to Fine Art, Landscape, Night Photography, Portrait, and Street Photography. Rather than relying on elaborate scenes, the winning photographs often use negative space, geometry, shadows, color, perspective, and scale thoughtfully. The result is a collection where a frozen landscape can begin to resemble a face, an industrial structure can become an abstract composition, and an ordinary urban space can take on an entirely different character.

From dramatic architecture and quiet landscapes to carefully composed portraits and intriguing abstract images, the 2026 winners show just how much can happen inside a deceptively simple frame. Take a look through the selected photographs and see how these photographers use space, light, form, and everyday surroundings to create images that might make you look twice.
