After announcing a string of European shows for their much-anticipated reunion tour, Oasis have now set their sights Down Under, reportedly booking two Australian dates for 2025.
ICYMI (where have you been?), Britpop heroes Liam and Noel Gallagher set the music world alight last month when they announced plans to embark on their OASIS LIVE 25 tour, putting aside their years-long feud and booking a bunch of shows for July and August of next year.
At the time, the sibling duo only revealed UK and Ireland dates for their reunion tour — which will mark their first time performing together since 2009 — but promised in a press release “to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year”.
Is Oasis bringing their tour to Australia?
Now, according to sources close to the tour, those continents have been revealed, and one of them is OURS!
NME reported on Thursday that Oasis will bring their LIVE 25 tour to shows in both Melbourne and Sydney next year, but before you get your panties in an Oliver Twist, details about specific venues and dates have not yet been announced.
Australia was one of multiple continents to be added to the 2025 Oasis tour, with NME also reporting that the formely-beefing brothers will perform in the US, South America and Asia.
That includes shows in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea and Japan, among others, and that’s all proof we need to confirm that the band are back with a vengeance.
It’s welcome news for a tour that got off to a rocky start last month, as ticket-buyers in the UK and Ireland complained about scalpers who were fanging the tickets for an excess of AUD $12,000.
I love “Wonderwall” as much as the next person (just ask any karaoke machine within a 10km radius), but tens of thousands of dollars for tickets is pretty damn steep. Steep enough for Oasis themselves to intervene.
The duo denounced the inflated pricing and promised fans that any “tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be cancelled”.
Aussie Oasis fans should probably brace themselves for an equally bloodthirsty ticket buying experience when the pair hit our shores next year. It’ll all be worth it, I promise.
