It’s official: The Washington Football Team is no more.
It’s the Washington Commanders now, as the NFL franchise revealed on Wednesday morning.
But thanks to a whole bunch of leaks and fans and media members digging around, it was something every NFL fan knew was coming.
Of course, there were some who wondered if it was an elaborate fake-out, which would have been the most amazing idea. My thinking? Maybe the leaks helped create the buzz that’s led up to the name reveal.
If it wasn’t a deliberate effort? It was the worst-kept secret ever. Let’s look back at what we’ve seen in recent weeks:
