The View audience fume after host Sunny compares Kim Kardashian to Raquel Welch

The View collapsed into chaos this morning after host Sunny Hostin compared Kim Kardashian to the late Raquel Welch – and even her co-hosts disagreed.

Audience members booed and viewers sent a slurry of angry Tweets after the iconic Hollywood legend, who passed away yesterday, was brought up in conversation.

The show was paying tribute to the Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years B.C star earlier today when Sunny made the comments about "sex symbols".

Whoopi Goldberg was even forced to quickly change the subject as the environment became hostile – with the panel completely disagreeing with Sunny's statement.

Joy Behar was saying that 'there aren't any sex symbols like Raquel anymore' when Sunny chimed in to say: "Well, Kim Kardashian is." Whoopi quickly replied: "No!"

The audience started to yell and boo when Joy added: "Kardashian? No." Sunny seemingly couldn't believe the reaction as she appeared shocked, holding her hand to her chest.

Joy tried to make light of the situation, quickly adding: "Turning, turning, turning. The audience is turning!"

Still shocked Whoopi tried to voice her opinion, adding: "Yeah, that’s not even– you can’t even put them in the same– I’m not even– I’m moving on!"

The hosts managed to quickly change the subject and the audience settled down as the show continued as normal – but fans at home were still fuming.

One Tweeted: "Kim K does not and never will equal or replace Rachel." While another added: "No!!!! Sunny that K's sister is not a sex symbol!!!"

A third wrote: "Kim K, really sunny?" When another said: "They quickly turned on Sunny when she mentioned Kim Kardashian as a sex symbol.

"And I have to agree with the audience."

Raquel passed away yesterday morning aged 82 following a "brief illness". She rose to fame for her 1960s movie roles, quickly becoming one of the industry's most sought-after stars.

Her family confirmed the tragic news to TMZ. Raquel won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her 1974 role in The Three Musketeers.

It was her legendary fuzzy bikini in One Million Years B.C. in 1966 that made her an unforgettable pinup girl.

Her long list of TV credits includes Bewitched, Seinfeld, and McHale’s Navy. Her film credits include 100 Rifles, The Three Musketeers and The Last of Sheila.

"I was not brought up to be a sex symbol, nor is it in my nature to be one," she once said in an interview. "The fact that I became one is probably the loveliest, most glamorous and fortunate misunderstanding."
