The Twelfth: Is July 11 a bank holiday in Northern Ireland?

With The Twelfth of July celebrations just around the corner, many people may be curious as to what bank holiday dates remain in Northern Ireland this year.

The Twelfth, which falls on a Wednesday this year, is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland.

However, July 11, another big day of celebrations for many, is not.

NI Direct says: "Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Public Holidays are holidays which have been observed through custom and practice, such as Christmas Day.

"You don't have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays, though many people receive the day off work. Any right to time off or extra pay for working on a bank holiday depends on the terms of your contract of employment."

Here are the last four remaining bank holidays upcoming in Northern Ireland:

Battle of the Boyne / Orangemen's Day 12 July 12 July
Summer Bank Holiday 28 August 26 August
