Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, as the classic Christmas song from Wham! goes, and last Christmas Endura also gave us its Christmas-themed skulls and gingerbread freak-out MTB jersey. This year the team at Endura Custom is back keeping Christmas weird, and they’ve looked to the skies for inspiration, with a brand new MTB clothing collection that could certainly be a case for Mulder and Scully.
I recently had an invite out to the Endura HQ in Livingston, to tour the Endura facility, meet up with product designers to find out about the host of new Endura products, and even enjoy the banter from the lovely ladies on the factory floor. However, there was no mention of the fact that Endura is based right next to one of Scotland’s best-known UFO encounters, and only a short ride from Bonnybridge, which has nearly 300 UFO sightings reported every year, and is nicknamed the UFO capital of Scotland.
The Dechmont Woods Incident happened in 1979 and is famous in Ufology, forestry worker Robert Taylor claimed a large flying dome had tried to pull him aboard, and due to the injuries he received is the only example of an alien sighting becoming the subject of a police criminal investigation.
The Dechmont Woods Incident is so close to Endura HQ, that the Endura Custom team was inspired on one of their lunchtime rides that passes a memorial stone marking the spot of the attempted abduction, to make the UFO-themed Christmas Believe Collection.
The Believe Jersey features Santa's reindeer and sleigh being whisked away into a UFO and is based on the Endura Custom kit that’s worn by their incredible roster of gravity athletes, including Downhill World Champion Charlie Hatton and team-mate Rachel Atherton who scored a sensational comeback World Cup win this season. Another custom version of the jersey has already taken to the skies this year, on the back of Kriss Kyle in his incredible Don't Look Down video, where he rides a BMX bowl suspended under a hot air balloon.
The Scottish brand has also created a Multi Tube and Thermal Neck Tube featuring the Believe design to keep your favorite riders toastie over the festive season.
