The Teacher star David Fleeshman's very famous family and Coronation Street connection

Actor David Fleeshman, who is currently starring in hit Channel 5 series The Teacher, comes from a very famous family.

The 69-year-old's nearest and dearest are part of an acting dynasty having graced the sets of some of the UK's biggest soaps including Coronation Street, EastEnders and Casualty.

David's latest role in The Teacher sees him playing the dad of Jenna (Sheridan Smith) who is accused of having sex with a student.

Viewers have also seen David star in Channel 4's acclaimed series It's A Sin as well as soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

His other acting credits include Silent Witness, Boys from the Blackstuff and Trial and Retribution.

David's son, Richard Fleeshman, will also be very familiar to Corrie fans.

Richard starred as goth and tearaway teenager Craig Harris for four years on the ITV soap.

The 32-year-old has since traded TV for the stage and is now a West End star with his role in Legally Blonde.

He also scooped roles in Ghost: The Musical and Urinetown.

Richard was also the youngest person to win Stars In Their Eyes celebrity when he was just 13 years old.

His mum, and David's wife Sue Jenkins is also no stranger to the cobbles as she appeared as barmaid Gloria Todd in Corrie from 1985 to 1988.

Her character left the soap after she stole the boyfriend of Sandra Stubbs, the The Rovers cleaner.

She also appeared in Brookside as Jackie Corkhill from 1991 to 2001 before stints in medical dramas Casualty and Doctors.

Like her son, she's also stepped into the world of theatre and often produces shows at The Lowry Theatre in Salford.

Children of the early 2000s might remember David and Sue's daughter Emily from kids TV hit My Parents Are Aliens.

She worked as Tania Thomas from 1999 to 2001 before changing her tune slightly on Shameless, Moving On and Still Open All Hours.

Their other daughter Rosie, 29, has performed in stage shows like The Pleasance and also regularly records radio plays for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 7.

In David's current role in The Teacher he stars alongside Sheridan Smith, 40, who finds herself accused of having sex with underage pupil Kyle after a boozy night out.

She wakes with no memory of the evening and sets on finding the truth about what happened.

After the first episode, which saw Sheridan's character teach a class on a hangover, fans were more interested in the length of her skirt.
