One of the leading supermarkets has quietly slashed their diesel and petrol prices over the last week.
The Big Four store is now charging an average of 153.5 pence for petrol and 176.7 pence for diesel, reports the Daily Record. Asda is now charging around two pence less than its closest rivals.
The popular supermarket dropped their petrol rates by 4.5 pence on average, and diesel prices have been cut by approximately 5.5 pence. These prices began to appear around two days ago, according to the RAC's fuel watch.

This comes after RAC urged the top supermarkets to drop their fuel rates by at least five pence, as they were not reflecting wholesale savings. The other part of the Big Four - Morrison's, Sainsbury's and Tesco - are being warned by RAC to catch up with Asda.
RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: "Our data shows that, without advertising the fact, Asda has taken an average of 4.5p off the cost of litre of unleaded across its 320 sites in the last two days, and around 5.5p off diesel.
"While we’re pleased one major supermarket retailer has finally started heeding our calls to pass on the enormous drop in the wholesale prices of both fuels, the fact these price cuts have been made so quietly is surely admission that they should have come much sooner."
A spokesperson for Asda told The Sun : "Asda is the price leader in the supermarket fuel sector and we remain focused on providing our customers with the best value at the pumps."
Edinburgh Live reported earlier today that Aldi was found to be the cheapest place to shop for a basketful of messages, according to the consumer group Which?
The research found that Aldi was the cheapest overall, costing £77.21 on average.
This cost total beat rival discount store Lidl by just £1.36 on average. The most expensive supermarket in the price comparison - which is completed each month - was Waitrose.
