When is the summer solstice?

The next summer solstice for the Northern Hemisphere occurs on June 21, 2026, at 4:24 a.m. EDT (0824 GMT), and the summer solstice for the Southern Hemisphere occurs on Dec. 21, 2026, at 3:00 a.m. EST (2030 GMT).

The summer solstice marks the official start of astronomical summer and the longest day of the year.
