The Umbrella Academy is coming back to our screens, and it looks like it’s going to be wackier than ever.
The third season of the cult Netflix hit will be premiering on June 22, and to get us excited Netflix has dropped images of the cast as well as a Season 3 teaser, which shows the Hargreeve family gearing up for battle against the mysterious Sparrow Academy.
Though showrunner Steve Blackman announced the premiere date at SXSW on Sunday, it’s the trailer that offers a hint of what to expect when it kicks off.
After going back in time to 1963, the supernaturally-gifted Hargreeve siblings saved the world but found themselves in an alternate timeline.
There, they discover that their father, Reginald, created the Sparrow Academy, a mirror of the Umbrella Academy where their dead brother Ben is still alive. In season three, the two groups must learn to work together and defeat a new enemy that could be worse than anything they’ve faced before.
Hype for the Umbrella Academy’s latest season has been building since the last season premiered two years ago – and since the third season was announced all the way back in November 2020.

Though it was inspired by The Umbrella Academy comic book, which was created by Gerard Way, the show has gone onto gather legions of new fans since the first season aired in 2019.
The new season will see old favourites returning alongside some new faces, presumably those of the Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page will also be making his first appearance as Vanya Hargreeves since coming out as transgender in December 2020 – a move which was strongly supported by both the Umbrella Academy show and his fellow cast-mates.
"We love you Elliot, couldn’t be more proud,” the show’s official account tweeted after his announcement.
Also returning will be Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampan as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, Justin H. Min as Ben and Colm Feore as Reginald.
Euphoria’s Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton will also be making his show debut, though it is not yet known which role he will play.
