The six Tottenham games Ryan Mason will take charge of after Daniel Levy sacks Cristian Stellini

Tottenham will have a new man at the helm for Thursday's Premier League clash against Manchester United following their 6-1 capitulation vs Newcastle United on Sunday. Just over 24 hours on from their embarrassing defeat on Tyneside, the club confirmed in a statement that Cristian Stellini had parted with the club and Ryan Mason will take over head coach duties with immediate effect.

Labelling Sunday's defeat at Newcastle as "wholly devastating" after they shipped five goals in the space of 21 minutes, chairman Daniel Levy also admitted that "the responsibility is ultimately mine" after the defeat resulted in another change in the Spurs hotseat. The chairman also went on to reveal that he had spoken with Tottenham's player committee and that the squad are determined to end the season as strongly as possible.

In a statement on the club's official website, the chairman said: "Dear All, Sunday’s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable. It was devastating to see. We can look at many reasons why it happened and whilst myself, the board, the coaches and players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine.

"Cristian will leave his current role along with his coaching staff. Cristian stepped in at a difficult point in our season and I want to thank him for the professional manner in which he and his coaching staff have conducted themselves during such a challenging time. We wish him and his staff well.

"Ryan Mason will take over head coach duties with immediate effect. Ryan knows the club and the players well. We shall update further on his coaching staff in due course.

"I met with the Player Committee today - the squad is determined to pull together to ensure the strongest possible finish to the season. We are all clear we need to deliver performances which earn your amazing support."

"COYS, Daniel."

Mason is no stranger to the Tottenham hotseat after previously taking on the position two years ago following Jose Mourinho's dismissal as Spurs head coach. Handed a daunting task in his first game in charge as Tottenham took on Man City in the Carabao Cup final, the former Spurs midfielder, who became the youngest coach in Premier League history at the age of 29, won four of his six Premier League games in charge.

Mason once again has six Premier League games in the hotseat two years on, starting with Manchester United on Thursday evening. Spurs will then be back in action three days later when they travel to Merseyside to take on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool at Anfield.

Tottenham then go into the final month of the campaign with four games on the calendar. Starting off with a home showdown against Crystal Palace, the Lilywhites then face Brentford at home in between away games at Aston Villa and Leeds United.

Currently in fifth and six points off the final Champions League place, Spurs have plenty of work to do in the run-in with Aston Villa, Liverpool and Brighton closing in on them when it comes to the European places.

Here are Tottenham's games in the run-in:
