The sensitive Staffy who just needs love

Some dogs who find themselves in rescue simply don’t cope very well in a kennel environment, and one such pooch is Dogs Trust Manchester resident, Odin.

The five-year-old Staffy cross arrived in care back in July 2022 after a ‘change in owner’s circumstances’, and has spent the last six months desperate for a sofa to call his own.

The ‘sensitive’ boy is looking for someone to help him find his feet again - maybe even before Valentine’s day?

Dogs Trust said: “Odin is a sensitive boy that has struggled in kennels and is definitely missing his home comforts. He is a real foodie which will help in making him feel comfortable and happy with his new family and building his bond with them.

“He enjoys going on walks around the centre, meeting new people and exploring his environment on walks. Odin is a wonderful boy with a lot of potential to settle back into a home with people who are there to give him plenty of love and support.”

As you can see from his photos, Odin is particularly fond of the secure fields, and loves to run around and show off. As such, he’ll need his own private and secure garden to potter about and have fun playing in, as well as spending time building his confidence and a strong bond with his new adopters.

The charity added: “Odin prefers the company of adults rather than children, so wouldn't be a fan of visiting children, and he would love visitors in general to be kept to a minimum as he is a rather shy little boy.

“Odin has guarded his food so he needs his own space for enjoying his tasty meals, and he is unsure of dogs and prefers keeping to himself when walking with his human friends. As a result, he will need to be the only dog in the home and cannot live with other pets.

“Odin has been left for a good few hours previously so once this is built up he would suit a home that needs to do this again.”

If you think you could offer Odin the ideal home, you can fill out an application form on the Dogs Trust website to register your interest. Dogs Trust can arrange an appointment and, if you and Odin seem well-suited, the charity may organise a virtual home check.

If it’s mutually decided you’re a perfect match, Dogs Trust will get the wheels in motion to move Odin into his forever home, and will keep in touch to help with any advice and support. You can find out more about Odin here.
