A police officer has said that leaving your Christmas presents under your tree is temptation for opportunist burglars. The detective sergeant has called for members of the public to remain vigilant and aware about where their presents are displayed this Christmas after a rise in 'chance' burglaries.
Parents have been advised to leave the presents in cupboards, wardrobes or underneath their beds until the Christmas morning and have been reminded to make sure to break down any boxes and put them directly in their bin rather than beside it. According to Cambridge Constabulary, burglars target homes where they can see expensive gifts have been opened.
