The Queen steals the scene in comic sketch that sees Paddington Bear having tea at Buckingham Palace

A very special guest made an appearance at Buckingham Palace to help the Queen celebrate her Jubilee party. Paddington Bear was invited by the Queen and was seen sipping tea with the monarch.

The comic sketch was part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, commemorating the monarch's 70-year reign. The scene opened with a butler carrying a tray, walking on red, plush carpet.

Upon reaching the royal dining table, the butler removed the crown-shaped tea cosy from the teapot and left the two guests - the Queen and Paddington Bear - at the table. Paddington Bear, wearing his trademark red hat and blue coat said: "Thank you for having me, I do hope you're having a lovely jubilee."

The Queen can be seen nodding then asking: "Tea?" A thirsty Paddington replies: "Oh yes please," before he grabs the teapot and drinks steaming hot tea straight from the spout.

The Queen watches Paddington noisily gulping the tea down, with a bemused expression on her face. Meanwhile, a royal butler looks on in sheer embarrassment.

In the hilarious sketch, it takes a few moments for Paddington to realise that he has perhaps forgotten his manners when he says rather belatedly: "Oh, terribly sorry." He is then seen to pour the last few drops into Her Majesty's cup, prompting the Queen to say: "Never mind."

Paddington instead offers the Queen a marmalade sandwich "which he keeps for emergencies." In a scene-stealing moment, the Queen can then be seen pulling out an identical marmalade sandwich from her handbag, as she says smiling: "So do I, I keep mine in here."

The scene ends with the Queen and Paddington Bear tapping teaspoons to the musical introduction of Queen's We Will Rock You. Viewers then joined the concert where Adam Lambert started singing the famous Queen song.

Musical heavyweights turned out to commemorate the monarch's 70-year reign. Star performers included Diana Ross, Queen with Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Craig David, Elbow, George Ezra, Duran Duran and Celeste.

Fans watching the tea scene unfold were wowed by the interaction of the Queen with Paddington Bear.
