The Princess of Wales' Christmas outfit 2023 — and every festive look she has worn as a royal

The Royal Family were led by the King and Queen into the annual morning Church service at St Mary Magdalene Church, in Sandringham, Norfolk, this morning (25 December), publicly starting their Christmas day celebrations.

They were followed closely by the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

As has become customary since the Princess of Wales’ first visit to the service in 2011, many eyes are drawn to her choice of festive outfit; through the years, these have moved through Miu Miu plaid trench coats (2017), faux fur trimmed grey coat dresses by Catherine Walker (2019) right up to her fashion forward, khaki-tailored Alexander McQueen outfit last year.

For 2023, Catherine opted for a royal blue coat dress, again by Alexander McQueen, and finished the look with a navy pleated skirt, matching polo-neck and suede Gianvito Rossi boots. Her statement bow and arrow hat comes courtesy of royal-favourite milliner Juliette Millinery, while the Princess’ sapphire and diamond earrings are a heirloom of the late Princess Diana, who famously wore them to the Met Gala in 1996.

Other standout outfits amongst the family included Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who wore a khaki wool coat dress complete with an on-trend neckline bow with a snake print clutch and feather trimmed boater hat, while Queen Camilla opted for a beige coat dress with twisted hem detailing overtop a paisley printed dress.

Following the morning excursion to the St Mary Magdalene Church, they will return to Sandringham House for a family lunch surrounded by the 20,000 acre estate. It has been tradition to celebrate Christmas at Sandringham since 1988, a tradition introduced by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
