The one airline flying from UK to Abu Dhabi after BA suspends route again

  • British Airways has suspended its flight route to Abu Dhabi for the 2026/27 winter season, postponing the return of flights until late next year and leaving Etihad Airways as the sole carrier offering direct UK flights to the city.
  • The airline initially paused the majority of its Middle East routes in February following the outbreak of conflict in Iran, with several planned resumption dates subsequently pushed back.
  • Direct British Airways flights to Dubai and Riyadh are now scheduled to recommence on November 3, followed by flights to Amman on November 4 and Tel Aviv on October 25.
  • Flights to Bahrain will remain suspended through late March 2027, while services to Doha have already resumed under a reduced schedule of one daily flight instead of two.
  • British Airways is offering full refunds to customers holding bookings to affected Middle Eastern destinations for travel up to and including October 31, regardless of whether their specific flight is operational.
