Happy Monday Nottingham! Today's edition of the Nottinghamian brings you news of a Newark pub set for a revamp with another set to reopen after two years and our pick of the perfect things to this week.

And a popular Nottingham store is celebrating 102 years in business this year. The team there shares the history behind the shop front and the secrets to their success over the many years... and decades!
Pub to reopen after pandemic closure
A Castle Rock pub which closed down during the thick of the pandemic is making a comeback. The Fox and Crown in Newark announced it was closing after 23 years of "blood, sweat and tears" in August 2020 - to the dismay of regulars.
But it has now been revealed the traditional real ale pub, in Appletongate, will be reopening after refurbishment, or as the new craft beer operators put it 'Yuppifying'. Nottingham-based Castle Rock Brewery and Yupp Beer have partnered to give the pub a new lease of life. Read more here.

100-year-old business shares secrets of its success
An electrical supply shop on Wollaton Road, Beeston, has shared the secrets to its success as it celebrates 100 years in business. Reginald Applebee opened the shop in 1920 its original location on the High Street.
His great-granddaughter Stacey Graham has now taken over the successful shop and is determined to mix the modern with the traditional. She felt it was her duty to carry on the legacy of the store and is now the fourth-generation family member to own it. Read more here.
Venue reopens after major revamp
A pub is reopening its doors after a major revamp. The Lord Ted in Newark is welcoming back customers today (November 28).
It comes after the pub on Farndon Road underwent a big refurbishment. Inside the pub, customers will find a fully refreshed décor with a new colour scheme, furniture and furnishings. Read more here.

3 - Etsy Made Local: Christmas market at Nonsuch Studios: Nonsuch Studios brings you a fantastic mix of over 40 stalls offering unique and beautifully made products. Saturday, December 3. 10am-6pm . Free entry.
4 - Lush pop up market: Support local and buy independent this Christmas with local traders at Lush, Nottingham Clumber Street. Sunday, December 4. 11pm-4pm. Free entry.
5 - Beeston Christmas lights switch-on: Get into the festive spirit with food and drink stalls, the lights switch-on and lots more family fun at Beeston square. Saturday, December 3. 4.30pm-6.30pm. Free entry
6 - Nottingham Playhouse Pantomime: Dick Whittington and his trust cat are heading to Nottingham Playhouse for this year's pantomime. November 25 until January 14. £18-£45.
7 - Christmas at Wollaton Hall: The annual light show is back and bigger then ever complete with a Christmas market. Opens to the public on Friday, December 2. Ticket prices vary depending on time slot.
8 - Skating rink at Old Market Square: If you haven't been around the new rink yet then there's no better time than this week. Monday to Sunday. Ticket prices vary and booking required.
9 - Christmas at Rufford Abbey: If you are already feeling festive or need a nudge to get into the seasonal spirit then why not visit Rufford Abbey for their craft and gift stalls. Rufford country park. 11pm-4pm daily. Free entry
10 - Christmas Beer Hall at the Garage in Chilwell: The Garage gets transformed into the annual Christmas Beer Hall - cheers! Saturday, December 3. 5-10pm. Free entry.
