The North Face teen hoodie recalled over risk of strangulation as warning issued to shoppers

A warning has been issued over a hoodie for teenagers due to a risk of strangulation.

The North Face Teen’s Oversized Hoodie has been recalled as the item "presents a serious risk of strangulation as there are drawstrings with free ends in the hood of the product". The Office for Product Safety and Standards has put out the warning and people are being urged to stop using the hoodie immediately.

The hoodie, which is intended for youngsters aged between six and 18, was sold online, in The North Face retail stores, and in partner stores from July 31, 2022. Any customers who have the item are being asked to return it for a refund.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards said: "The product presents a risk of strangulation as there are drawstrings with free ends in the hood of the product. Drawstrings can become trapped during various activities of a child, leading to potential strangulation. The product does not meet the requirements General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Product description : 100% Cotton hoodie knitted product with front Kangoroo pocket, a two-pieced hood and TNF logo on the front and on the back. Product intended for those aged between 6 and 18 years old, sizes XS – XL. This product has drawstrings with free ends in the hood and neck area

Corrective action : The product has been recalled from end users.

What should you do? Please stop using the product immediately. Please return the product to the store where it was purchased. Refunds will be issued for the full purchase price. Alternatively, The North Face can also arrange collection, please contact tnf.ukshop@vfc.com to organise this.

The North Face said: "Wearer safety is top priority for The North Face. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
