The Newcastle sportsground amenities suggested for upgrades

While female change rooms have been secured for Passmore Oval, many other sportsgrounds across Newcastle are dealing with outdated infrastructure and a lack of female facilities.

City of Newcastle's strategic sports plan adopted in 2020 said "the condition of supporting amenities at many grounds is poor" and consultation with sporting representatives found amenities blocks were old, in poor condition, had a lack of female-friendly change rooms and inadequate storage.

The plan outlined recommendations for specific venues and/or facilities. This included amenity or change room upgrades at:

  • Adamstown Park, Adamstown
  • Connolly Park, Carrington
  • Pat Jordan Oval, Carrington
  • Smith Park, Hamilton North
  • Lugar Park, Kotara
  • Nesbitt Park, Kotara
  • Lambton Park, Lambton
  • Grange Oval, Maryland
  • Grange Ave Netball, Maryland
  • Stevenson Park, Mayfield West
  • New Lambton Park Kentish Netball, New Lambton
  • National Park, Newcastle West
  • Corroba Oval, Stockton
  • Tarro Reserve, Tarro
  • Hope Street Reserve, Wallsend
  • Wallsend Park, Wallsend
  • Wickham Park, Wickham
