In 2020, he was poisoned by the Kremlin and recovered in Germany. After his time abroad, many assumed he would remain in exile. Yet, he returned to Russia knowing it would mean imprisonment, and potentially, death.
On Friday, Russian authorities alerted Navalny's family that he had died while serving a prison sentence in a penal colony in Siberia. His death leaves his family and supporters anguished, but not broken.
